A producer registry is not traceability

Names, phone numbers, coordinates and documents in a database do not show which plot a product came from or how it reached an export lot.

The most common mistake

A digital registry can show who belongs to a network, but it does not show what each plot produced, when the product was received or which lot it entered.

The critical unit is the relationship

Traceability requires verifiable links: producer to plot, plot to delivery, delivery to intake or collection, intake to lot and lot to shipment.

Where the chain usually breaks

Duplicate identities, aggregated deliveries without source and transformed lots without recorded inputs and outputs create the appearance of traceability.

What a system should answer

For a specific lot, it should show who supplied the product, which plot it came from, which transformations occurred and which exceptions remain open.
